Infant & Childhood Nutrition
The first day of the digital summit will continue with a presentation from Zoë Ellis, Head of Consumer Medical Affairs at Danone Specialised Nutrition on How early life nutrition influences health for a lifetime . The first 1,000 days – from when a baby is conceived until they are around two years old – is a critical period in a child’s life that holds the ability to shape long-term health. With a focus on nutrition during pregnancy to toddlerhood, this session will examine the role and science behind nutrition in early life and its importance in building a healthy gut and immune system. It will also explore growing trends in early life nutrition that are driving new product development in infant formula and baby feeding including research into the microbiome, alongside organic and plant-based innovations.
Zoë’s presentation will be followed by a presentation from Dan Parker, CEO at Veg Power, and then by a panel discussion with live Q&A. Chaired by Katy Askew, Senior Editor of FoodNavigator , the panel will discuss Turning the tide on childhood obesity . Europe is battling a pandemic: childhood obesity. According to the WHO, one in three 11-year-olds in the European region are overweight or obese. In this session, the panellists will weigh in on what can be done to defuse this ticking public health timebomb. They will profile innovation strategies to make healthy kids’ food more accessible, affordable and appetising – as well as asking what changes need to be made to the food environment.
