Amit oversees the molecular farming platform that has been set up to express animal proteins in plants. He has over 25 years of experience in plant molecular biology, genomics, and biotechnology, with extensive experience in the genetic engineering of many important crops. Amit completed his B.Sc. in Botany (Honors) from Hindu College in 1991, New Delhi, India, and his M.Sc. in Botany (Honors) from Agra University, India in 1993. He then completed his Ph.D. at the University of Delhi, India, and Rutgers University, New Jersey supported by fellowships from the University Grants Commission and The Rockefeller Foundation, USA, respectively in 2000. After post-doctoral training at Rutgers University (2000-2001), the University of Central Florida (2001-2004), and the University of Florida (2004-2006). In 2006, Amit started his independent academic career and continues to pursue research, mentor the next generation of scientists, and hold leadership positions in academia while participating in bringing agricultural technologies to the market.
