Gregor Tegl
Co-Founder & CEO
Arkeon

Gregor, Arkeon’s CEO and co-founder, has 10+ years of experience in biochemistry and biotechnology and is on a steady quest for new technologies that have the potential to revolutionize the way we’re utilizing the natural resources of our planet. After obtaining his Ph.D. at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna, he continued his dedication to environmental biotechnology at the University of British Columbia Vancouver, Canada, researching the use of enzymes as green catalysts to replace toxic chemicals for the synthesis of biomolecules. His passion for food and sustainable eating ignited a 5+ year-long journey of exploring microbes to produce next-generation nutrients and food ingredients. Gregor’s scientific expedition resulted in an entirely new method of producing alternative proteins using CO2 – without the need for any agricultural inputs, changing agriculture the way we know it. Gregor was awarded the Wissen Schaf[f]t Zukunft Preis and was granted the Erwin-Schrödinger-Fellowship by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF).
